Lythjohan Signs with Concordia

Apr. 28– Concordia University head women's basketball coach Paul Fessler has announced that Tori Lythjohan of Cedarburg, Wis. has signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Golden Bears in 2008-09.

The 5-11 guard/forward helped Cedarburg High School to four regional championships and three conference titles. The four-time letterwinner also helped the team reach the state tournament in 2005-06.

Fessler was excited about the signing, "We signed Tori for her outside shooting and her length at the guard position. She fits in very well with our style of play."

Lythjohan joins a Golden Bear program that has one of the most established winning traditions in the North Central Region and the NSIC.

Tori also knows how to win, leaving Cedarburg as the winningest player in school history with 77 wins during her career. She was a 2007-08 team captain and earned all-conference honors in 2006-07 and 07-08.

She also won in the classroom, earning high honors all four years. In addition, she has devoted over 100 hours of community service, was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Best Buddies program.

The Wisconsin native guard enters a Concordia women's basketball program that just graduated a pair of guards from the state who have brought similar all-around characteristics to Concordia: Katie LaViolette (Manitowoc) and Megan Kirchenwitz (Oconomowoc).

Concordia is coming off of a 28-3 overall season and will be defending back-to-back NSIC Regular Season and Tournament Championships. They have captured three of each title since 2003-04.

Lythjohan is one of four newcomers to the Golden Bears in 2008-09, along with Iowa State transfer Gillian Bjerke (Pelican Rapids, Minn.) and prep-stars Megan Myhrie (Barnum, Minn.) and Michelle Hugelen (Rosemount, Minn.).
