LAWRENCE, Kan. - The Concordia University men's 4x100 meter relay team hit an NCAA provisional mark for the second consecutive week, this time racing with a time of 41.32 to advance to the finals. The team, consisting of John Pimental, Diahn Zeon, Kawaskii Bacon and Robert Spence, set a school record last week in the event. In action on Saturday at the Bo Boucek Classic in Ottawa, Kan., Adam LeMay set a new school record and reached the NCAA provisional standard in the pole vault with a best mark of 15 feet, nine inches and Kaysee Nesmoe improved her school record in the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 6.5 inches. Another school record was set by Dan Schield in the 10,000m run after he finished the race in 33:23.58.
The Concordia track & field team was split in action in Kansas this weekend, with select members seeing three days of competition at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan., where the relay team took fourth place overall and reached the provisional mark. Other members of the team took part in the Bo Boucek Classic in Ottawa, Kan. Kevin Koglin won the 100m dash with a time of 11.43s, helping the CU men's team place third at the meet. Concordia's women's team had a number of great performances as well; Emily Stanzyk won the 3000m steeplechase (12:29.40) and Hayley Reed won the pole vault (10 ft) to go with Nesmoe's record mark in the shot put.
