LAKE CITY, Minn. - Although new NSIC Championships standings are not calculated, the Concordia University men's golf team made a huge step forward today at The Jewel Golf Course by firing a 293, the second lowest team score out of 11 only behind St. Cloud State. CU was in eighth place in the NSIC Championships after two rounds. Tomorrow's 18 hole shotgun start will conclude the NSIC Championships. ROUND 1 RESULTS
The Golden Bears finished only three strokes behind the Huskies on the day and were led by sophomore Nick Jarrett (Woodbury, Minn.) who is tied for second in the field shooting par 71 (36-35). Sophomore Alex Timm (Hopkins, Minn.) tied for the eighth spot with a 72 (35-37). Sophomore Kyle Lewis (Forest Lake, Minn.), who was tied for 13th in the individual NSIC Championship standings, was 15th today with a 74 (36-38).
It's a crowded field after the first day of the third round of the NSIC Championships, with the top seven teams separated by 11 strokes.
Tomorrow the championship standings and all-conference awards will be released by the Northern Sun.
