CU Plays Through Wind and Rain in Spring Debut

WAYNE, Neb. - The Concordia University men's golf team opened the spring portion of their 2008-09 schedule this afternoon at the Wayne State Spring Invite at Wayne Country Club fighting the conditions as it was rainy with winds in the 20-25 mph range with gusts as high as 35 mph. Despite the conditions, the men persevered, firing a team score of 315 to tie for fourth place of seven teams. Day 1 Results

CU is just 15 strokes behind the leader, Upper Iowa, who shot a 300.

Alex Timm led CU with a 77 in the first 18 holes

Concordia was led by sophomore Alex Timm (Hopkins, Minn.) who fired a 77 to tie for sixth with rounds of 38 and 39. Sophomore Nick Jarrett (Woodbury, Minn.) shot a 78 including a 38 on the back nine while freshman Jeremy Tetrault (Forest Lake, Minn.) shot a 79.

Concordia has eight golfers playing at the Wayne State Spring Invite, with five shooting for the team score and three individuals.

They conclude the Invite tomorrow.
