Concordia Drops Two at Missouri Western Invite

Mar. 20– Concordia (10-6) returned to action after a three week layoff at the Missouri Western Invite in St. Joseph's, Missouri.  The Golden Bears dropped game one to #24 Emporia 9-1 in five innings and suffered a 4-3 setback to host Missouri Western in game two.

Game 1 - Emporia 9, CU 1 (5 innings)
The Concordia offense struggled against #24 Emporia as they managed only three hits in a 9-1 five inning loss in the first game of the day. Sophomore Josie Olson (Columbia Heights, MN) led the Golden Bears with a double against the Hornets. 

Freshman Stephanie Schmikla (Madison, WI) allowed six earned runs on five hits with four walks over  4.0 innings.  Freshman Cassye McMahon (Rescue, CA) gave up three earned runs on four hits and a walk in 0.2 innings.

Game 2 - Missouri Western 4, CU 3
The Golden Bears offense came to life in game two with eight hits, led by senior Nicole Tischler (St. Paul, MN), who was 3-4 and junior Natalie Mast (Oakdale, MN), who was 2-4 against the Griffons.

Junior Jenny Kaminski (Columbia Heights, MN) took the loss on the mound giving up four earned runs on six hits and a walk.

The Golden Bears will return to action on Friday in St. Joseph's when they will face Central Missouri at 11:00 and Washburn at 3:00.
