Bacon, Lindboe Named CU Athletes of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Senior indoor track athlete Kawaskii Bacon and freshman softball player Jamie Lindboe are being recognized for their athletic accomplishments and have been named CU Athletes of the Week.  This is the third honor of the year for Bacon and the second for Lindboe.

10th place finisher at the NCAA Championships, Kawaskii Bacon.Kawaskii Bacon took tenth place at the 2009 NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships in Houston, Texas on Friday.  Bacon, a senior sprinter from Minneapolis (Edison HS) narrowly missed the cut for the finals in the 60 meter dash, running a time of 6.85 seconds.  The school record holder was just short of the cutoff of the field of eight in the finals, which broke at 6.832s.  Bacon ran a career-best time of 6.72s earlier in the indoor season to assure himself a spot in the NCAA Championships.

Concordia power hitter Jamie Lindboe.Jamie Lindboe (OF, 5-6, Fr., R/R, Eagan, Minn. / Burnsville HS) led the Golden Bears in both hits and RBI over their spring break trip to the Rebel Spring Games last week.  The freshman outfielder tabbed 14 hits and came up with 12 RBI on the week.  Lindboe’s most crucial hit came in the first inning against #7 Ferris State, as she dumped a double into the outfield to drive in two Concordia runs.  The Golden Bears went on to top Ferris 3-2 in their final game of the week.  Lindboe had three doubles and two home runs throughout last week’s play.
