Concordia Grabs Headlines in Star Tribune & Pioneer Press

Mar. 06– The Concordia women's basketball, with a 26-2 overall record and a top-10 national ranking for 12 consecutive weeks, was featured in the Star Tribune today. The article, written by Dennis Brackin, parallels the success of the Golden Bear volleyball and women's basketball programs, specifically the volleyball NCAA Division II National Championship with the basketball team on the same quest. Katie LaViolette made a splash with the Pioneer Press as she sat down for an interview with Bob Sansevere for a Q&A segment. Link to Star Tribune Article: http://www.startribune.com/sports/gophers/16201052.html?page=1&c=y

The women's basketball team is seeking the second national title in the sport, with the 1982-83 Comets winning the only title in Concordia women's basketball history (NLCAA), finishing 20-6 under Jack Surridge. While Concordia's volleyball championship this fall was the first-ever National Championship since the NCAA Division II affiliation (1999-present), it joins a rich tradition of athletics with multiple national titles with the 1991-92 Men's Cross Country team (NSCAA) coached by Mike Charron and the 1991 volleyball team (NSCAA) coached by Dennis Getzlaff.
