Concordia wins 4th straight at NSIC/RMAC Crossover

ROCHESTER, Minn. - The Concordia softball team (4-2) picked up their fourth straight win on a snowy Sunday afternoon in the Upper Midwest, defeating Colorado State Pueblo 9-2 behind sophomore Ashley Kluever (Cottage Grove, Minn.) and junior Calli Brennan (Mendota Heights, Minn.). The game was played inside the Rochester Dome. BOX SCORE

Kluever pitched a four hitter, allowing two runs while striking out nine to pick up the victory in her third start of the season. She improves to 2-1. She struck out 21 batters in 19 innings pitched on the weekend.

Brennan jacked a grand slam in the fourth inning to blow the game open, giving Concordia a 6-0 lead. Senior Sami Mattson (Esko, Minn.) added a two run shot in the sixth inning as well to pad the Golden Bear lead.

The grand slam for Brennan gives her a pair of homers for the weekend and nine RBI while Mattson produced her third homer and now has eight RBI on the young season.

Concordia's 4-2 record this weekend was key as the games were all within the region. They'll return to action March 5-12 in Orlando, Fla. for the Rebel Spring Games where they'll play 14 games.
