ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University's women's basketball team has moved up to #20 in the nation, settling in with a 20-4 record as they look toward a final regular season home game this weekend. Under the direction of head coach Paul Fessler, the Golden Bears have won 20 or more games for nine straight season. The team has been ranked in the USA TODAY ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll for each of the past seven weeks, having sat at a high of #20 two previous weeks.
Concordia started the season out with a 10-0 record, the second best start in school history. A new winning streak has been put together as CU looks toward the final three games of the regular season, stringing up four consecutive wins. As the postseason nears, the Golden Bears are the leading team in the NSIC with a 14-3 league record. They are also sitting comfortably at #2 in the Central Region, nearly assuring the team a berth in the NCAA Tournament.
Concordia, the only NSIC team ranked in the national poll, plays a final regular season home game this Saturday afternoon, hosting MSU Moorhead at 4:00 pm.
