MANKATO, Minn. - Concordia University sophomore Diahn Zeon reached a career high and NCAA provisional mark in the long jump with a leap of 23 feet, 9.5 inches at the MSU Open this afternoon. Another two inches to Zeon's jump would give him an automatic-qualifying jump and a guaranteed spot in the NCAA Championships. MEN'S RESULTS - WOMEN'S RESULTS
Zeon (So., Edina, Minn.) became the new NSIC long jump leader with his mark at the MSU Open today. He set a new school record in the process, overcoming the record that he previously held by 2.25 inches. Just a sophomore, Zeon made a trip to the NCAA Championships last season as a freshman. According to results at the time of this posting, Zeon ranks 8th in the nation in the event. Turning to a sprinting event, Zeon was also Concordia's top finisher in the 200 meter dash, taking 6th place with a time of 7.00s.
Another school record was overcome today at the indoor meet, this time on the women's side. Junior Kaysee Nesmoe (Mountain Lake, Minn.) broke the record that she set earlier this season in the shot put, this time throwing for 42 feet, 9.75 inches. Her mark was good for fifth place at the meet.
In other highlight action for the track and field teams, Domonique Gilmer (Jr., Minneapolis, Minn.) won the 200m dash with a time of 22.14s. Jayme Wyss (Sr., Clear Lake, Wis.) took third place in the pole vault with an 11 foot, 2.25 inch clearance, just inches from her recent career best. Fourth place finishes came from Katie Johnson (Sr., Ramsey, Minn.) in the long jump (17-4.0) and Heather Schmit (Fr., Geneva, Minn.) in the 200m dash (28.59s).
