STARKVILLE, Miss. - While newly crisp, cold weather has returned for Minnesotans, the Concordia University softball team has warmer thoughts on their minds this time of year. The Golden Bears received points in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Preseason Poll, one of five NSIC teams receiving attention prior to the season kicking off. The Golden Bears have just three weeks until they open the 2010 schedule, slated to kick things off with six games in Denver, Colo. Feb. 19-21. Season preview coming soon!
Concordia did not make it among the top 25 ranked teams in the preseason poll, but by just receiving votes, they are building up expectations for the upcoming season. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference had two teams ranked in the preseason poll and another three receive votes. Winona State, the reigning Central Region champion, jumps in at #3 of the poll, while Wayne State falls in at #21. Joining the Golden Bears in receiving votes was Augustana College (10) and Southwest Minnesota State (6).
The Golden Bears have six ranked teams on their 2010 schedule.
