ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia's women's basketball team slipped one position to #23 in this week's USA Today ESPN Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released this afternoon by the WBCA. The Golden Bears are 15-3 on the season and return to the comforts of the Gangelhoff Center this weekend for their toughest Friday-Saturday matchup of the season. They are pitted against Augustana College on Friday night, a team with whom they are currently tied for first place in the NSIC and the only other team in the league receiving national votes. CU turns around for a Saturday night game against Wayne State College, seated fourth in the NSIC standings. Get down to the Gangelhoff Center to catch the anticipated action! Check back Wednesday for complete game notes.
This is the fourth straight week that the Golden Bears have been ranked in the national poll. They are the only Northern Sun Conference team ranked among the top 25 and one of just two teams in the region picked for the distinction. Fort Lewis College, a Rocky Mountain Conference affiliate, is the other Central Region team in the poll, resting at #8.
The Golden Bears have hung in the poll despite splitting wins the past two weekends. They swallowed a bitter buzzer-beater 66-67 loss on Saturday night at the University of Mary. Concordia is undefeated at home this weekend, going 6-0 in front of the Gangelhoff faithful.
