ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University basketball athletes Mike Cunningham and Zoraa Quoie have been named this week's CU Athletes of the Week. The leading scorers for the Golden Bears in conference play last week, this is the first AOW honor for Quoie and the second for Cunningham.
Junior guard Mike Cunningham (G, 6-4, 205, Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Trinity HS) averaged 22 points and five rebounds per game for the Golden Bears of Concordia University last week. Cunningham was hot from the field, hitting 16 of 28 field goals for 57.1% shooting in the combined games. He dumped in a career high 25 points against Bemidji State on Friday night before connecting on 9-of-12 field goals and 19 points against Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. He also averaged 4.0 steals per game with an assist/turnover ratio of 4.0 and had five steals.
Zoraa Quoie, a sophomore guard, was the leading scorer for Concordia University through two NSIC games played last weekend. Quoie (G, 5-7, So., Woodbury, Minn. / Woodbury HS / Univ. of Iowa) averaged 18.0 points and also pulled down 5.0 rebounds per game against Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth. She helped the Golden Bears to a win over the Beavers with 21 points and three steals on Friday night. She finished in double figures in scoring for the 11th time this season with 15 points against the Bulldogs. Quoie also had seven assists on the weekend.
