Craig Heiman and Candace Olstad Repeat As CU Athletes of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Basketball athletes Craig Heiman and Candace Olstad have been named the CU Athletes of the Week for the second consecutive week.  Heiman and Olstad helped the Concordia cause as both the men's and women's teams played a non-conference game and returned to NSIC action against St. Cloud State last week.

Craig HeimanCraig Heiman (F, 6-5, 230, Jr., Marshall, Wis. / Marshall HS) poured in 26 points, including a three-pointer with 1:35 to play to break a 66-66 tie in overtime, in a Concordia University loss to the University of St. Thomas last week.  Heiman doubled all other CU players in scoring against UST with 26 points, hitting 10-of-21 from the field and also grabbing eight rebounds.  Heiman had the team's highest scoring average through the two games played last week with 16.0 points per game.  He also pulled down 6.5 boards per contest. 

Candace OlstadCandace Olstad (F, 6-0, Sr., Elgin, Minn. / Elgin-Millville HS) had two strong performances on the hardcourt over the holidays and averaged 14.5 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.  In a convincing 79-59 win over DI-affiliate South Dakota, Olstad marked her season’s first double-double with 15 points and 12 boards.  She followed up with a team high 14 points and seven rebounds against St. Cloud State.  The Concordia senior shot above the .500 mark in both games, finishing play with a 58.8 shooting average (10-17).  Against the Huskies, Olstad missed just two shots from the field and finished with a .714 average.  She also had two blocked shots.
