Josh Deer was named Sports Information Director in June of 2008 after serving five years in the department, including two years as a full time assistant.

His duties at Concordia include updating the official site of Golden Bear athletics, producing media guides, press releases, archiving records, statistics, photography, PA announcing, play-by-play for CU's web casts and running the press table at home events.

A graduate of Concordia University, St. Paul, Deer spent three semesters as an undergraduate intern in the sports information office before serving as a graduate assistant in the department.

He received his Bachelor's degree in December of 2004 in Communications with a minor in History and completed his Master's coursework in Organizational Management in May of 2006.

In addition to his work at Concordia, Deer also turned an internship with the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference into a pair of part time positions with the league.

His experience at the NCAA Division II level includes working numerous NCAA regional tournaments and NSIC tournaments.

Aside from Concordia, he has worked numerous events at the professional, Division I and high school levels.

At the pro level, he has worked as a volunteer assistant for the Minnesota Vikings media relations gameday staff (2004-06) and currently serves as a spotter for CBS Sports for all Vikings games aired on CBS (2004-present).

He has also worked multiple NCAA Division I basketball tournaments hosted by the University of Minnesota and has worked for the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) in virtually every sport's state tournaments (2004-present), as well as the Schwan Cup high school hockey tournament.

Deer is completing his Master's thesis, resides in New Brighton, Minn. and is a graduate of Eastview High School.
