Golf- Two golfers earn Capital One Academic All-District honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The 2011-12 Capital One Academic All-District At-Large selection teams have been announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) with a pair of Concordia University junior golfers, Mark Austen (Chisago City, Minn.) and Laura Petterson (Lakeville, Minn.) being voted to the District 7 First Team. They will each advance to the Academic All-America ballot.

Athletics- Lippincott and Carlson voted as CU Male and Female Athletes of the Year

ST. PAUL, Minn. - A pair of seniors has stood out above the rest, one leading the nation in hitting and the other helping to swing her team to a National Championship as Bryan Lippincott (Des Moines, Iowa) and Megan Carlson (Andover, Minn.) have been named the Concordia University Male and Female Athletes of the Year. The two seniors earn the highest annual athletic honor from Concordia University.

Baseball- Lippincott earns Daktronics Central Region Player of the Year

Football- Alumni Update: Cawthorn earns Top Cop Award

PAUL, Minn. - Former Concordia University running back Aaron Cawthorn (Des Moines, Iowa) has made headlines recently for heroics away from the gridiron as he has made a positive impact in his hometown community. Cawthorn was recognized nationally by being named an NAPO Top Cop Honorable Mention, one of just 54 law enforcement officials to be honored with the national award. NAPO AWARD LIST

Baseball- Lippincott named ABCA Region Player of the Year, Larpenter Gold Glove

May. 16WAYNE, Neb. - The 2012 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has released the 2012 All-Central Region Teams, award winners and Gold Glove teams. Concordia University senior Bryan Lippincott (Johnston, Iowa) was named the Central Region Player of the Year while teammate junior Greg Larpenter (Urbandale, Iowa) was a Gold Glove First Team outfielder. BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The Northern Sun women's golf coaches have selected the 2011-12 Northern Sun All-Conference teams, with Concordia University juniors Taylor Auman (Coon Rapids, Minn.) and Laura Petterson (Lakeville, Minn.) being selected to the All-NSIC First Team.

Track- Zeon Name to the All-Region Team

May. 15NEW ORLEANS, La. - Diahn Zeon (Edina, Minn.) was named to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Region Team on Tuesday afternoon for the Long Jump. He finished third in the NSIC in the long jump last weekend with an NCAA Provisional Mark of 23 feet 8.75 inches. He also finished the year ranked 33rd in the nation in the long jump. FULL RELEASE

GolfM- Tetrault named All-NSIC Honorable Mention

BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The Northern Sun men's golf coaches have selected the 2011-12 All-NSIC Men's Golf teams and award winners. Concordia University senior Jeremy Tetrault (Forest Lake, Minn.) was named an Honorable Mention performer for the season after capturing NSIC All-Tournament honors earlier in the spring.

Track- Zeon, Jandrich All-NSIC

May. 15BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Both Diahn Zeon (Edina, Minn.) and Esther Jandrich (Forest Lake, Minn.) both finished third last weekend at the NSIC Outdoor Championships and were named to the All-Conference Team because of it. Zeon took third in the long jump with a mark of 23-8.75 feet. Jandrich took third in the pole vault with a height of 11-04.25 feet. FULL RELEASE

Athletics- Brennan and Zeon secure CU Athlete of the Week honors

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The final Concordia Male and Female Athletes of the Week for the 2012-13 season have been selected, with seniors Diahn Zeon (Track & Field) and Calli Brennan (Softball) picking up the award. For Zeon, it's his first of the outdoor season and second of the athletic year as he picked up the award during indoor season. It's his fifth career CU Athlete of the Week award. Brennan earns her first CU Athlete of the Week award of the season and third of her career.
