Softball- Concordia Preparing for 2012 Season

Jan. 27ST. PAUL, Minn. - With the softball season just over two weeks away the Golden Bears have been taking advantage of the Sea Foam Dome on campus to prepare for their upcoming season. The team has been able to get in a lot of simulated work as well as inter squad scrimmages. Concordia opens the season February 14 with a double header against Minnesota Duluth in the Vadnais Heights Dome. DOME PHOTOS

Baseball- Baseball banquet preview's 2012 season, media guides available

PAUL, Minn. - This week, the Concordia University baseball team held it's annual Gold Plate Banquet at Mancini's Char House with celebrity guests including two-time World Series Champion manager Tom Kelly, first baseman Kent Hrbek and current Twins manager Ron Gardenhire. The team's only official award, the 2011 Larry Norder Most Dedicated Player Award, was presented to senior Bryan Lippincott (Des Moines, Iowa), earning it for the second-straight season. Track- MSU Open On Tap

Jan. 26ST. PAUL, Minn. - This weekend the team travels to the campus for the University of Minnesota State Mankato for the MSU Open/Heptathlon. This meet will be a big test for the Golden Bears as several of the top teams in the NSIC will be participating. A total of 16 different schools will be participating in the meet on Saturday.

BasketballW- Second Chances Await CU

Jan. 25ST. PAUL, Minn. - With nine games left in the NSIC season the Golden Bears (8-11, 5-8 NSIC) sit just outside the top eight in the conference. This weekend provides a tough test as CU heads out of the road to take on Augustana (14-3, 11-2 NSIC) and Wayne State (17-2, 11-2 NSIC) who are tied for the lead in the NSIC with an 11-2 record. Athletics- Golden Bear Insider Airs Tomorrow at 8 p.m.

Jan. 25ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Bear Insider with Dan Flanagan returns to www.mnsportsnetwork.com tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. Tomorrow's lineup will consist of women's basketball player's Carissa Wolyniec and Rachel Hansen, the duo who set up the game winning shot in Concordia's win over Minnesota, Crookston last weekend. Their coach Paul Fessler will also be on the show with men's basketball coach Kelly Boe and track coach Jarred Sampson.

BasketballM- Big road weekend awaits Golden Bears

Jan. 24ST. PAUL, Minn. - This weekend, the Golden Bear men's basketball team (8-9, 5-8 NSIC) embarks on a road trip to Sioux Falls, S.D. and Wayne, Neb. to close out a stretch that featured six road games in an eight game period in January. They'll face Augustana (10-7, 7-6 NSIC) on Friday night at 8:00 p.m. at Elmen Center and Wayne State (4-13, 3-10 NSIC) on Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. at Rice Auditorium.

Volleyball- Fifth Banner Raised at the Gangelhoff Center

Jan. 23ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Golden Bears unveiled their 2011 NCAA Division II Volleyball National Championship this past Friday night. It is the fifth straight year Concordia has raised a National Championship banner in the Gangelhoff Center. Concordia became the first team in Division I or II volleyball to win a fifth straight National Title in December by sweeping Cal State San Bernardino on the campus of the Coyotes. Basketball- Peter Olafeso and Rachel Hansen named CU Athletes of the Week

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia athletic department has named senior Peter Olafeso (M.Basketball) and sophomore Rachel Hansen (W.Basketball) as this week's CU Male and Female Athletes of the Week. P.Olafeso becomes a four-time selection this season and eight times for his career while Hansen is a first-time pick.

BasketballM- Hot shooting propels Concordia past Minnesota Crookston

Jan. 21ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia University (8-9, 5-8 NSIC) shot 66.7% (14-21) in the first half as they built a 16-point lead and cruised in the second half to an 82-65 win over Minnesota, Crookston (5-12, 1-12 NSIC) on Saturday evening at Gangelhoff Center. Concordia led by as many as 31 points midway through the second half. BOX SCORE

Track- Golden Bears Compete Well at Stout

Jan. 21MENOMONIE, Wis. - The men's and women's track team competed at the UW-Stout Open on Saturday. Tolu Ojoyeyi (Minneapolis, Minn.) finished second in the 60m dash, Becca Richter (Osseo, Minn.) finished second in the 5000m run and Britt Bickert Ripon, Wis.) took second in the shot put to lead the women's side. Esther Jandrich Forest Lake, Minn.) also finished third in the pole vault. On the men's side Diahn Zeon (Edina, Minn.) finished third in the 60m and Natie Thienes (Lake Elmo, Minn.) finished fifth in the weight throw.
